Things I Like Books

£5.95

Why do this project?

Everybody has their favourite things! They are a part of you as a person. This project had so much to recommend itself. It’s inclusive because all children will be writing from a position of strength, using their own knowledge to create their book. It has a strong element of information writing; children will love sharing their identity, teaching you and their friends about themselves. They will be making writerly decisions about how they will give the information – a single word, a phrase, maybe a label or perhaps a sentence. And in terms of talking, this project is a conversation starter. When children share their books, others will chip in with their own responses and contributions. This often leads to even more books being made!
